I counted 859 major malls, but that was by a very strict definition of mall. But those numbers dont necessarily include outlet malls either.

I dont doubt there is more HS than major huge malls, but smaller malls, 4-5 stores all grouped together, are very numerous, and definetley outnumber the high schools.

Its not the fact that there is/ is not more high schools than malls, its the fact that the numbers are even close.

and we are only talking about high schools, not all schools, so obviously the total number of schools to malls is gonna be way high, but I was just using it as an example of the country being more focused on profits and money than education, and I feel that is totally backwards

that schools around the country are falling apart, US test scores arent even top 10 globally, and in 2006, a test was given, and US teenagers scored behind 16 other countries in science, and scored behind 23 other countries in math, out of only 30 countries.

It doesn't bother me at all that there are more Marty Shopping Centers than High Schools.

It does bother me that we are falling behind in test scores, manufacturing, debt, common sense (such as taking care of things at home first), medical care, and so forth and so on.

But the Mayking Mall doesn't play into it.

Plus, there should be more malls and etc than schools. Theres a larger population of people 20-65 than their is 13-19, so there for a large need for jobs and retail sales is a part of supplying the jobs for that group, plus HS'ers that work on the side.

I hate that our scores are falling compared to other countries, but compared to some of those above us, its not exactly a fair comparison.

i just used the HS/Mall thing as an example

the facts are what is important

the fact that we score behind 10's of countries in test scores, the fact that we only rank 12th in international testing, etc...
those are the real issues

One fact in that comparison is though is that a lot of the countries (if not all) place their students into trade schools and such at a certain age if they do not show they are capable of doing well in your basic courses. Its not an even comparison when students in the US are not "graded out" around the age of 14 like they are in these other countries ahead of us.

most of the ones ranked above us do, i got some kind of paper from johns hopkins when i was in the gifted and talented program that showed our failing scores and such when i was in 7th grade and its only getting worse. no doubt we need to put more emphasis on our education but those studies arent very fair. i wouldnt put much of a thought into them.

I would bet about 70% of the ones ahead of us do.
